Dunhuang Flying Apsaras Flint-Red Xishi Teapot Tea Set – Gift Box

A Dunhuang Flying Apsaras tea set — a flint-red Xishi teapot with 4 matching cups, decorated with the feitian dancers of the Mogao Caves and boxed for gifting.

Craft & Materials

The set is fired in a warm flint-red (huoshi hong) ceramic — an antique red that recalls the ochre pigments of the Dunhuang murals. The teapot follows the Xishi form, a round, soft-shouldered shape named after Xi Shi, one of the four great beauties of ancient China, and carries the feitian — the ribboned flying apsaras — across its body. Each cup echoes the same motif, so the dancers seem to circle the whole table.

About the Dunhuang Motif

The feitian — or flying apsaras — are the celestial dancers of the Dunhuang murals, painted for over a thousand years along the Silk Road. Their ribbons and gestures have become a symbol of flight, music, and the meeting of cultures.

Gather the set for your own table, or give the whole scene as a gift.
